I can't go much faster than 100 in my Chevy truck, they put a speed limiter.
My car, however.... if I'm not careful, I am easily at 140. These are MPH, not KPH!

Do U Drive @ 55?

i'd like to say that i'm a law abiding citizen, however......
it's a wonderful thing that many folks wish to follow the rules of the road but you people who don't keep it rolling with the rest of the crowd at 65-70mph are risking a catastrophe.

Any parents out there who refused blood for their kids?
by rebel8 inif you are out there, i would really appreciate you sharing your experience with me.
i am an ex-jw with a serious disease that has required blood transfusions from time to time throughout my life.
when i was a child, my jw mother went to great lengths, not only to withhold transfusions, but to avoid needed preventative and emergency medical care for fear it may result in blood being forced upon me.

I was one of those parents. My infant son was born with a low platelet count. We didn't know this until he was circumcised. The next morning, his diaper was full of blood. We were shocked to say the least. He was put into intensive care at a week or so old. Not what a parent likes to see.
The doctors kept telling us that only blood would save him. Apparently he had ITP, caused possibly by a virus his mom had around the time of delivery.
They were hinting that a blood transfusion was the only thing that would work and was imminent.
Fortunatley a good friend and client was an oncologist. I called him and asked if he would be the doctor on the matter and he gladly agreed as he knew my beliefs (at the time). The hospital also had no problem as he was very competent and well respected.
He know my beleifs and didn't push blood but suggested a steroid (prednesone) to raise the platelet count and help with coagulation. It worked like a charm and within 24 hours my son was on the road to recovery.
My $.02 is that many times doctors rush to give blood even if there are other alternatives. I guess we were lucky that the alternative worked and were not faced with a take blood or die scenario. -

Bullies
by Nancy Drake inhi ya'll.. i'm looking for advice on how to handle a neighborhood child that is bullying my son and other children in my apartment complex.
he is very mean, takes my son's stuff, tries to trip him on his bike by putting a stick into his spokes, pulling his underwear up, cussing at him.
at first i tried to talk to him nicely, asked him to please not do mean things to other children.

Well...
Try to talk to the parents or the building manager, the childs lack o supervision / behaviour could be violating the lease (harassing other tenants). Find out if the parents are here legally and if not, threaten to have them booted out of the country. Sounds like you live in a very colourful neighbourhood. Why not move? I'd press charges or file a police report if it happened as the police have bilingual staff, usually.
While fighting back is good (I beat up many bullies in my younger years) it isn't my choice for such a child of tender years. -

new passport....
by Country_Woman inlast year i got a new employer - that ain't news you could say but that ain't the story - only the start of thois topic... .
they needed a copy of my passport... and it had to be valid.
(and mine was'nt) so i planned to get a new one.

What if you accidentally put the passport through the wash and it got damaged and you had to get a new one? I got a nice 48 page one. Only bummer is that they keep forgetting to stamp it!
